Richelle is a Calgary-based actor, artist, and educator. She is currently attending the University of Calgary, working towards a BFA in Drama. She decided to take on this journey after finishing a 5 Year Concurrent Education and English degree, in hopes of being able to learn alongside students and maintain a a learner-mindset throughout her career.
As an actor, her previous projects include Peter and the Starcatcher, A Wrinkle in Time (StoryBook Theatre), Master of Mystery, The Mail Order Bride, A Grave Undertaking (Heritage Park), Shakespeare in Love (SCPA), Harmony the Musical (Harmony Production Ltd.), and Tartuffe (The Shakespeare Company), and Power Play (Full Circle Theatre).
As an educator, she hopes to encourage students to think critically about what is given to them, whether it be a novel, instructions, or their place in the world. Fostering critical thinking within students is fundamental to building understanding of themselves and the world around them. This then prevents low self-esteem, which many believe is the root issue of many problems that even adults face. She has been fortunate enough to have worked with students both within and outside of Calgary and oftentimes finds that she learns more from them than they do from her.
She is also passionate about art and music. After growing up taking art classes, she was fortunate enough to obtain a minor in Visual Studies. She has found a deep love of painting and hopes to apply this through costume, prop, and set design. She also has a deep love of photography and enjoys photographing for actors and theatrical spaces. Her background in singing and guitar has also been a source of great joy for her that she hopes to share with others.
